Our History
1923
A Legacy Born
George W. Dunbar co-founds Mercer & Dunbar, New England’s first armored company.
1956
A Footprint Expanded
James L. Dunbar establishes Federal Armored Express in Baltimore, Maryland.
1960
Protection Extended
James Dunbar founds a protective services company to offer clients armed and/or unarmed guards.
1970
Cash Handling Simplified
Dunbar Cash Vault Services is created.
1983
Security Systems Offered
Dunbar Security Systems is born out of Dunbar’s need for systems strong enough to protect our cash vaults.
1987
An Industry Leader Recognized
Under the name EZ Audit BankPak, Dunbar begins sourcing the production of clear, plastic bank deposit bags and distributing them directly to customers. Our bank deposit bags quickly become the industry standard.
1996
A Brand Established
EZ Audit BankPak becomes Dunbar BankPak to consolidate the various Dunbar operating units under the esteemed family name.
1999
Cash Manager Safes Introduced
Dunbar begins marketing smart safes—electronic, bill-validating in-store safes — now known as Dunbar Cash Manager Safes, to cash intensive businesses.
2010
A Brand Unified
Dunbar BankPak undergoes its final name change to Dunbar Security Products to better reflect the full array of our security and cash management product offerings.
2015
A Brand Fortified
Start offering protective services and security systems packages under the new moniker Dunbar Security Solutions.
2018
A Future in Focus
Dunbar Armored is sold and the corporate focus shifts to expanding our Security Products and Security Solutions businesses to meet the demands unique to each client that we serve.
